It is delightful to discover the admirable quartier of the Marais, aesthetic, historic and authentic : it is the biggest gathering of galleries for modern, contemporary and avant garde art and design in Europe ; attention : most galleries are standing in back yards (old factories), without window in the street. The Marais has become Parisian epicenter for “bobo” ("bourgeois-boheme" : smart, trendy, lefty) art ; perhaps too much so, as since the crisis, some galleries have closed to be replaced by concept and fashion shops... a pity as its character is being spoilt
